The GAIN Deep Dive is a one and a half day interactive workshop for sports coaches, physiotherapists, and PE teachers who are looking for practical and relevant tools to help their teams.

The Theme

The theme is “Foundational Strength” and will include:

  • Understanding strength.
  • Applying strength.
  • Designing a programme.
  • Coaching the program.

This interactive workshop will draw heavily on Vern’s vast experiences and the lessons he has learned. There will be a mixture of theory, practical sessions and plenty of opportunities to ask questions. Course attendees will walk away with a better understanding of what works and how to apply it to their situation.

Your Tutors

Vern Gambetta, Founder of the GAIN Network

Vern has been coaching for fifty years, and is the founder of the Gambetta Athletic Improvement Network (GAIN).He is a pioneer in the field of Athletic Development. He is recognized internationally as an expert in training and conditioning for sport having worked with world-class athletes and teams in a wide variety of sports.

Vern has been the a conditioning coach in Major League Soccer as well as the conditioning consultant to the US Men’s World Cup Soccer. He is the former Director of Conditioning for the Chicago White Sox and Director of Athletic Development for the New York Mets.

His background is track & field, having coached at all levels of the sport. In addition Vern served as the first director of the USATF Coaching Education Program, an innovative program designed to upgrade the standard of track and field coaching in the US.

James Marshall, Head Coach at Excelsior Athletic Development Club

Excelsior ADC is the only sports club in the UK affiliated to the governing bodies of gymnastics, weight lifting and athletics. James set the club up in 2014 in order to give people in Devon the opportunity to learn and participate locally.

James has coached many athletes from different sports including: England Rugby U16 and U18s, Great Britain Rugby League U16 and U18s, Exeter Chiefs RFC, London Welsh RFC, London Broncos RL. He had 5 Athletes compete at the London 2012 Olympics/Paralympics He specialises in speed and power training and the athletic development required to apply that to sport.
